PSR's Tradition One states:

"Our primary objective is to make PSR available to anyone recovering from addictions and other mental disorders."

We do this primarily by facilitating regular meetings in a safe environment, but we also carry our message to pagan events nationwide. For our fellowshipping outside of meetings, we also organize campout gatherings, which are open to all with a desire to recover.

Pagan Spirit Gathering 2005

PSR appeared at the Pagan Spirit Gathering 2005 June 19 -26 at Wisteria in Southeastern Ohio. This was the 25th anniversary of the event, which has been sponsored by Circle Sanctuary, a "non-profit organization dedicated to networking, research, spiritual healing, community celebrations, and education." Sanctuary founder Selena Fox inspired the early beginnings of Pagan Sanctum Recovery with her "Empowerment" version of A. A.'s 12 steps. (photo: Ari C. and Selena Fox)
Unique to this festival is a separate no-alcohol "Amethyst Camp," with scheduled noon recovery meetings. Galena (pictured at right, red hat, center) facilitated marvelously.
In addition to the workshop PSR had a merchant's booth. On our first trial run of 25, the Green Book: Pagan Sanctum Recovery sold out by the end of the festival. We also discovered that there were many pagans in recovery who did not go to the meetings, but did stop by the booth and talked for a bit about their experiences, good and bad, with 12-Step programs. NPR journalist and acclaimed author Margot Adler , conducted a series of interviews for the next revised edition of her seminal classic Drawing Down the Moon. PSR representative Ari C. interviewed and managed also to get in a word or two about our program. Margot also requested and received a paragraph about PSR for the Resources appendix. 1st Annual PSR Gathering, Fall 2004

PSR had its first Annual Gathering on the weekend of September 24, 2004, at Walnut Creek State Park, Oklahoma. The temperature averaged around 67 degrees, with a bit of a frosty night, few clouds, a light breeze. . . in short, the weather was gorgeous! Lake Keystone was down a bit, so we could journey to areas of the cove shoreline that were usually inaccessible. We took a long hike around the cove. The picture shows a view of our campsite, clearly indicated by GOMU, nesting on the shore.

The first two photos show our campsite (indicated by GOMU, nesting under the trees) and a copse of trees north east where we conducted the Journey.

GOMU, the recovering Ice Cream Truck. Signs of GOMU's disorder remain in the form of large stickers announcing the presence of children. Ripping them off, revealing hints of original paint, was a healing experience.

Council of the Magickal Arts, Samhain 2003

Our first PSR event meeting was at CMA Beltane 2004, October 14-17. All present declined to be photographed for the website. But we did have a cool area (the Amphitheater), with a stage and beautiful setting at CMA's property, Spirit Haven.
